About Us

Welcome to the white hart

Once an 18th century coaching inn, The White Hart in Ampthill is situated in the north of the Georgian market town. This historic Grade II listed building, which may date back as far as the 16th Century, continues to be a prominent destination in Ampthill. Features include a wall mural above the bar’s fireplace of the Prince of Wales feathers, created by local artists in 1646, whilst our stylish 1930s dining room was built towards the end of the arts and crafts era.

Our Mediterranean-inspired menu is served daily from 8am, and guests can choose from a variety of dishes all freshly prepared in our open kitchen. The provenance and quality of our ingredients is paramount, and our produce is ethically sourced and traceable from field to fork.

From our British meat to our free-range eggs and local beers, care is taken to ensure whether you choose our dry aged ribeye cooked over charcoal in our Josper oven, or local ale battered cod and chips, your dining experience is memorable.

For families, we offer a bespoke children’s menu with accompanying activity pack, and most dietary requirements are met with ease.

Our comfortable bar area serves an extensive and varied drinks menu, while our private function space can suit any requirements from birthday celebrations to a corporate lunch.

Outside, enjoy a drink in the courtyard at The White Hart. For when the weather is a little unpredictable, we have a canopy covering providing some additional shelter.

Guests are welcome to extend their visit by staying in one of our eight boutique-style bedrooms, which bring together the character of the coaching inn with the comforts of a modern hotel.

What Our Guests Say

THE OAKMAN INNS FAMILY

Oakman Inns & Restaurants was founded in 2005. Our vision was to create an environment where like-minded people could come and enjoy some great food and drinks whilst catching up with friends, family, neighbours and colleagues.

We quickly won a place in the hearts and minds of local people through our support of local sports teams and community events. Then we started winning awards too. Today we work hard to replicate this recipe in each and every new pub that we open.
